Confidentiality

Passion-for-Life Psychotherapy adheres to both the HIPAA Regulations and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics. Strict confidentiality is always maintained. At your first session as a client, you will receive a printed page detailing how your confidential information will be stored, the rare exceptions to confidentiality, and structured forms for any release of information you request. This includes signing a release for anyone you bring to a session with you.

As a Passion-for-Life Psychotherapy client, you are welcome to participate in the discussions on UPositiveBlog.blogspot.com. Know that it is not a confidential blog, and is open to all clients as well as the general public. Anonymous postings or postings with a fictional name are accepted.

Be assured that your e-mail address will be used only by UPositive Life Coaching and/or Passion-for-Life Psychotherapy, and will not be sold to or shared with others.

Confidentiality is maintained as much as possible for UPositive Life Coaching clients. Notes from sessions, personal information, and anything else you request are kept in strict confidence (within the limits of the health and safety of you and others). You will also receive a printed page regarding confidentiality at your first life-coaching session.

DUAL RELATIONSHIPS
(for Passion-for-Life Psychotherapy clients)

The NASW Code of Ethics is very clear about dual relationships: they are not permissible. Simply put, a dual relationship is any outside-the-therapy-session contact between therapist and client.

Passion-for-Life Psychotherapy clients are welcome to participate in any seminars or groups presented through the therapy practice. If you want to participate in seminars offered through the life-coaching practice, however, you will need to sign special releases, and may not be eligible to attend follow-up sessions, if they occur. We can discuss this further as the situation arises.

Passion-for-Life Psychotherapy clients cannot participate in individual UPositive Life Coaching sessions, although similar goal-setting and achievement tools are available in your therapy sessions.

Passion-for-Life Psychotherapy clients cannot receive other support services offered to UPositive Life Coaching clients, such as personal shopping; accountability calls; and/or therapist attendance at gigs, showcases, exhibitions, etc.

If you have any questions about confidentiality, please
contact Batya.
